A July Day at Henry W. Coe State Park
On July 7, 2019, I joined five other hikers to do an approximately 20 mile hike with about 4500 total feet of elevation gain. The hike started at the park headquarters; from there, it was the Corral trail, then Flat Frog trail to Frog Lake, then Frog Lake Trail to Hobbs Road down Middle Ridge. From there, we took the "Short Cut" a highly strenous trail that goes straight up to the top of Blue Ridge (1500 feet elevation gain over one mile). Once on top of Blue Ridge, we then hiked to Hat Rock and then traversed down Rock House Ridge down to Coyote Creek. We walked along the creek through Los Cruxeros and then through the Narrows to China Hole. From China Hole, we hiked up to Manzanita Point and then back to the park headquarters.
